Acceptable use
What this page is for
cvestia hosts portfolios produced by their authors. This page says what may not be published on it. It forms an integral part of the terms of use, and it is what any removal decision points to.
Somebody else’s career
This is the prohibition that matters most. Publishing a person’s career, identity or data without their agreement is forbidden, including by depositing somebody else’s CV.
Also forbidden: impersonating a third party, taking an address that uses another person’s name or a public figure’s, or suggesting an affiliation that does not exist.
What is false
Publishing false content meant to mislead an employer or a client is forbidden, in particular a degree, a certification, an employer or a job you do not have.
cvestia verifies nothing you declare, and that absence of checking is not a permission.
What is confidential
Publish no confidential information belonging to an employer or a client: internal figures, unpublished projects, clients covered by a confidentiality agreement.
What is unlawful or harmful
- unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful or discriminatory content;
- content that invades somebody else’s privacy;
- infringing content, or an image you do not hold the rights to;
- a company trade mark or logo reproduced without its owner’s permission;
- sexual or violent content, or content unrelated to a professional career;
- content concerning a minor;
- sensitive data about a third party: notably health, ethnic origin, political or religious opinions, philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation, genetic or biometric data;
- a third party’s personal contact details: address, phone number, private email.
Misusing the service
- using it for phishing, search-engine spam, advertising, selling, or distributing malware;
- circumventing the service’s technical limits, automating its use, querying it in bulk;
- attempting to reach what does not belong to you;
- creating several accounts to get around a quota or a suspension.
Reporting
To report content that breaches these rules, use the “Report this site” link at the foot of every published site, which prepares an email with the page’s address in it, or write to the contact address giving the exact address of the page, what you believe is at issue and why, and a way to reply to you. That address is the service’s single point of contact.
Every report is acknowledged and receives a reasoned answer.
If a report reveals an offence threatening a person’s life or safety, the competent authorities are informed.
What happens after a breach
Depending on how serious it is, content may be removed, a site taken offline, or an account suspended and then deleted.
The person concerned is told, with the reasons for the decision, the facts it rests on and how to contest it. A contest is examined by a person: no removal is decided by automated means. You may also contest the decision before the competent courts.
